The Event's Purpose

Inspiring hope and providing opportunities for those living with spinal cord injuries--that's the focus of The Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation.

Since last year's event, we've donated $95,000 from the Foundation: $10,000 to the Kennedy Krieger Institute, a world-renowned facility dedicated to improving the lives of children and adolescents with spinal cord and brain disorders; $10,000 to SPINALpedia, an online mentoring network connecting the SCI community; $40,000 to Pushing Boundaries to help fund rehabilitation costs for those suddenly disabled who are without the means to do so themselves; and $35,000 to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries through campaigns such as the Hudson Project.

But the primary goal of the foundation is to establish a state-of-the-art restorative therapy center in the Seattle area (click to learn more). We are excited about current developments regarding the healing center, and an update will be given at the dinner!

In order to accomplish this mission, the foundation relies on this event as its primary annual fundraiser. This year's event will be held at the Bellevue Hyatt Regency.

The Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation (Tax ID# 20-5487064); depending on your tax situation, donations may be tax deductible.

A Cure is Coming 2009: What a Success!

Over 150 people gathered this year to celebrate the Fifth Annual Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation dinner and auction at the Bellevue, WA, Hyatt Regency on October 10, 2009. This annually held event raises funds to benefit individuals who are suddenly disabled with a spinal cord injury. The event was a great success, raising $240,000. The funds will continue to support the Foundation's existing projects of outreach and education and allow Foundation grants to be given to individuals and therapy providers for the benefit of those who otherwise would not be able to afford it. The Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation will continue support the work at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, not only in their pioneered rehabilitation methods, but also Dr. John McDonald's relentless work to someday cure spinal cord injuries. The funds raised also support the long term goal of the bringing a facility much like that of Kennedy Krieger to the Northwest, so that children and adults have access to the cutting-edge technology needed to heal the body, mind and spirit after a debilitating spinal cord injury.

A Message from M.R. on the 2009 Event

My heartfelt thanks to all of you who supported the Fifth Annual A Cure is Coming Dinner & Auction. The event surpassed all of our expectations, raising over $240,000 for the Michael-Ryan Pattison Foundation. We could not have done this without all of your tremendous support. The funds raised at the event will help to continue the work of the foundation and our efforts to provide opportunities for those living with spinal cord injuries to achieve a better quality of life. I thank you for your generous spirit and passion for the work we are doing.

God bless,
Michael-Ryan Pattison
